As I said before she retained her training from last year well. I spent a lot of time today reviewing her on-leash obedience and she didn’t have any real sticky points. I plan to introduce her remote tomorrow morning and we will hit the ground running! She is so eager to please she doesn’t make many mistakes other than those fueled by an excess of enthusiasm. I’m glad she is back!
She’s baaaack! My friend Sailor the doodle is back for the second half of her training. She breezed right through her first week last year and she has retained her skills very nicely. She is back this week to learn how to safely be off-leash. Her home is in the country now and I am so excited to condition her to a remote so that she can fully enjoy life without fences. Happy coincidence is that her good friend from doggy daycare is here with her! So her training comes with a built in buddy and no stress of learning to live with a strange new dog.

Ernie is a happy-to-know-you kinda sweetheart. Up for adventure whenever you please. A Wirehaired Pointing Griffon is not a breed you see often but I’ve trained a couple. They are fun gun dogs and they learn quickly but are smart enough to be mischievous also. Ernie has had his foundation in basic obedience laid already by his owners in weekly lessons. This week he is here for “finishing school” to get him conditioned to a remote collar for off leash training.
Today Ernie and I mostly did refresher work on his obedience since we had a longer wait between his lessons and his Board and Train than we expected (darn covid) but he has retained his training very well. He has a few bad habits, like jumping up, that we need to address but by the end of today he was able to enjoy some off leash play time while I got him introduced to his remote. He did well and isn’t too put off by the remote so this should go smoothly! He is a fun dog and I’m so glad he gets to be my first student after this Covid hiatus. |
