Copper had a very good day today. He got 4 workouts including a long exercise walk. He also enjoyed a run next to my bicycle. He was very aware of the bike and respected the wheels and was happy to run at the speed I chose. He didn't even break a sweat but I will take him on a longer run tomorrow. Some exercise really leveled him out and he was much better in his obedience today.
We were able to hit all our goals today with his training. He seems to know Down already but really really expects a treat. I think he was a bit put out at first when all he got was praise but I will be sure to raise the value of praise for him this week. His recall is so-so. He knows to approach me when I say "Come!" but he sometimes tries to do a "blitz attack" where he approaches me then bounces away in a dramatic play-bow. His biggest struggle, however, has been Implied Stay. He really, really wants to follow me wherever I go (even if it is only a few steps away). Right now he is simply confused by the concept of staying put but this will easily be overcome with practice.
Tomorrow, if his Autosit continues getting better and better, we will introduce Placemat but that is the only new thing we will do tomorrow. We did more than enough new stuff today and have a lot to practice and work on.
That's all for now. Time to wind down the dogs for the day and get them into a calm mode for the evening.
