Talk about a big kid. Hayes is a very large Golden Retriever boy. His Board and Train starts tomorrow but today he got dropped off and we got him settled in. He was very unsure of his kennel at first but now that he has eaten a meal in it he happily hops right in and curls up on his bed.
We did not do a whole lot today, obedience wise. He got Heel/Autosit almost immediately during our exercise walk. I was careful not to pet him until he sat down and he cottoned on very fast that if he wanted affection he needed to walk nicely and sit. It made him very happy to get the answer right.
He has met my parents and they, of course, now want another Golden. He really is an irresistible cuddle machine, much like our dear old Golden Retrievers, Nikki and Bandit.
Right now he is snoofling around the living room looking for a place to lay down that will allow him to see everything at once.
Tomorrow the real work begins and we will work some more on Heel/Autosit, and introduce Down and Implied Stay.

So glad to hear Hayes is adjusting well. Sure do miss him but know he will learn a lot this week.
