Mufasa is doing great. He goes home this afternoon with a foundation in basic obedience and a bit more confidence. He has responded well to no coddling when he is afraid. He has also done really well with the other dogs. He was nervous when first meeting my pack but as soon as the leash came off and he was able to walk around them and get in some sneaky sniffs, it only took him about 10 minutes before he was happy to play with Ace, the Pit Bull, and while Kylie's playing style was a bit to intimidating for him he would happily lay down with her and share a toy (just not Kylie's wubba toy, she doesn't share the wubba but hides it instead).
I am very pleased with how far he has come and if his owners can commit to making this a life style for him and commit to holding him accountable and insisting that he comply to a given command. If you tell him to Sit or to Down and you don't mean it and you don't keep him on task he might try to blow you off. He also tries to sneak away if he thinks you aren't paying attention (for instance when he is on Place). But I would set up placemat traps yesterday and go into the kitchen while keeping one eye on him and he learned quickly that I have eyes in the back of my head and that it is better to take a nap than it is to try to sneak off and get into trouble.
I will miss this special boy. He has really come out of his shell this week and shown me how sweet and snuggly he can be.
