Internet keeps coming and going so keeping this short. Annie is getting better all the time. Down is still a bit of a struggle but she is starting to get it. Working on a 20 foot line now and she is doing better and better with holding herself back, even when a bird or leaf blows around begging her to chase it.

Tomorrow- we WILL be laying down on command. This girl keeps making me laugh and laugh.

Today we welcomed Levi the Weimaraner for 10 days of training. He is a beautiful dog with a LOT of energy and a sweet nature. He is getting along well with the dogs here and has been more or less polite in the house, other than trying really hard to get on all the furniture. After a ten minute argument he gave up and stopped hopping back up.
All we did today was start Heel/Autosit. He arrived a little late in the day and an appointment kept me in town for much of the early evening so the real work starts tomorrow. But he has settled in and made some buddies and gotten in a little training and some play time.
I am looking forward to training this guy. It is no secret that gun dogs are among my favorites.

Annie did well today. We started using her Dogtra collar after solving the problem of her thick hair keeping her from feeling the corrections with an emergency hair trim on a one inch patch of her neck. Even with the patch trimmed she takes more of a correction than her brother did, if I am remembering correctly. I don't know if it is a girl dog thing but Kylie, my female Akita, takes the highest correction setting of my dogs while my male shepherd mix and male pit bull take much softer corrections.
Today we worked more on Heel Autosit and she is now sitting automatically quite nicely. Still prone to distraction but it is much nicer than it was yesterday. We also started the Come command and the Down command. Down did not make much progress but it was introduced at least. Come went surprisingly well. We were able to let her off the leash (with her electronic collar on) to run and play and only once did she need a correction to remind her that Come means "Come now", not "come when you're done sniffing the apple trees."
Tomorrow it is more work on the basics and really pushing Down and Implied Stay (she still toils there a little but is getting much better). Right now she and Ace are playing a fantastic game of Bounce Around the House for No Apparent Reason and having a wonderful time.

Who remembers sweet Gunner who charmed us during his Board and Train? Well we have his baby sister here for 7 days of obedience on a Dogtra IQ. As Gunner's full sister (different litter) Annie is true to form. Sweet, gorgeous, and pretty sure she can "cute" her way out of anything, my entire family is ready to keep her forever. Thus is the power of a Golden Retriever.

Today we got her all settled in and started Heel/Autosit. Her Autosit isn't quite there yet but her Heel is quite nice now. We also started the Implied Stay which is pretty good unless Ace is around to make bouncing look like fun.

Tonight she wouldn't eat her dinner, perhaps watching the KU game ruined her appetite. She was very polite in the house and only needed one correction for sniffing a dinner plate. She is, however, pretty convinced that she is allowed on the couch.

We will have fun with her this week. And I am looking forward to watching this little goofball become the princess she is so capable of being.
