Loki Board and Train day 1

Today was a sort of assessment day for Loki. He has had a few weekly lessons with me so far and so I took today to see where he is with his commands. He has Heel/Autosit pretty well. His implied stay is already 75% reliable. His Down needs work but the foundation is there. I started his Recall command early because that is his big issue. I am confident I will have him recalling nicely by the time he goes home. It will still be hard at places like the dog park but with practice and consistency I am certain he can get to be reliable at exciting places too.
He enjoyed our long walk today and wanted to root in all the leaves in the big pasture. He likes Ted and Kylie but gets frightened when Kylie plays too roughly. She is pretty good at adapting her play style but also kind of likes being the big kid on the play ground. I am sure as he settles in, Loki will start standing up for himself a little better. He is experienced with living in a house with multiple dogs.
Tomorrow we are going to start his heavier work and really ask a lot of his brain power. I am going to order a Herm Sprenger prong collar because they are easier to put on and remove than the Titan collar (which he is on now) but won't pop off when he pulls on the clip at an odd angle. If his owner likes the Herm Sprenger better we can simply trade collars. He won't need one for ever. Just while he is still learning that these aren't tricks we are teaching him, but rules for daily life.
