Wally Board and Train day 4

Today was productive. We started with a low key workout/walk in the morning and he did very well on heel/auto sit, down, and recall. His implied stay still needs work when there are big distractions around.
Later this afternoon we worked in the X Pen and for some reason Wally was feeling really argumentative about the Down command. We got into our first real "down battle" and he tried EVERYTHING to keep from laying down. He ran away, he jumped up, he stood up, he looked sad, he ignored me and looked off into space, and only after trying everything under the sun would he grudgingly lower himself. We worked for around 20 minutes on Down-at-the-front and as soon as he did it perfectly right when I asked him to we went back inside.
Between the two workouts we had him in the house for some work inside. I would put him into a stay in one room and call him into another.
Then we relaxed and had some indoor down time which he seemed to enjoy.
Tomorrow we are working on "placemat" some more and we are also going to keep working the obedience.
