Sweet Ziva arrived yesterday for 10 days of advanced obedience. She is what we call a "soft dog" which does not necessarily mean submissive, because she isn't, but she is sensitive to correction and praise. She is a smart girl who likes to work but she especially loves touch. Today it took her two tries at the Down command to do it correctly and once she realized the pets that a nice Down command would get her she became pudding and she actually fell asleep while I patted her.
Today I introduced and spruced up the commands Heel/Autosit, Implied Stay, Come, and Down. She is doing fine though she isn't a huge fan of her kennel. She enjoys being outside the most. Being in the house is still a little nerve wracking for her, I think because it is different and new.
Tomorrow we are going to continue to work on her commands and we are going to introduce Down from the Front, we are going to ask for a longer Stay and for more complicated Heel work.
She is doing great and I am looking forward to how far we can get this week. Welcome Ziva!
