Tomorrow we are taking her go-home video in the morning and then having fun with her until she is ready to go home. I will miss her. She has been a very fun house guest and I hope she makes her owners happy with her new skills.
My friend is going home tomorrow and I am very pleased with her progress. She is still very puppy and still makes mistakes but she understands corrections now and so when she does make a mistake we can easily mark it for her. She knows all of her commands and when she is in working mode she does really well. When she is very playful and excited it can take a second to get into working mode but she does get there. Her silliness is part age and partly just who she is. She is a very happy-go-lucky girl.

Wrigley is doing great. She is autositting now whenever we stop in a Heel. Her leash manners are coming along great. She walks on a loose leash in a Heel and when in a free walk she doesn't pull...most of the time. Her Down is going pretty well. She knows the word but she isn't always reliable. But she corrects easily when wearing her training collar (small prong collar) and her Implie Stay is going well for day two. She often acts like she is worried she will miss out on some fun if she doesn't follow me everywhere but her self restraint is getting better.
Tomorrow will be a busy day for me but she should get all her workouts in and an exercise walk in the evening. She is learning fast and being a polite (enthusiastic) house guest. Wrigley is one big, poofy, wigglebutt of joy and she is here for one week of training. She is a very sweet natured Aussie and as such she is quite distractible and sometimes a little stubborn. But she also loves having fun so if we can make training a game (without skimping on the fair discipline she needs) we should do well.
Today we introduced Heel/Autosit, Implied Stay, and Down. She did pretty well with everything. Needs practice, of course. But she remembered words easily and she has a good work ethic. She has settled in quite well and more than anything enjoys playing with Ace, the pitbull. They had a lot of fun today. So far she has been gentle but excitable with the children but she calms down quickly because they aren't very interested in her. I am looking forward to working with her this week. It should be a lot of fun! Aussies are always good at reminding trainers that a sense of humor is a must when training dogs. Welcome Wrigley! |
