Ace is now Auto-sitting and is learning Down and Come very quickly. Bailey is doing well with everything and now is just having her obedience polished before we introduce off-leash and the electronic collar. Her biggest sticky spot is Down. She knows it but is not interested in doing it most of the time. She usually waits for a correction. I am going to up the praise a bit to give her more incentive.
Right now they are milling around the living room. Ace wants to play but Bailey is snubbing him because she is more interested in smells. They have been very polite in the house and even gave the cat some personal space when she insisted on it. She doesn't run from dogs, though, so she isn't very inticeing to chase.
I am confident that as soon as they relax here we will see some naughty behavior in the house. Right now everything is so new they don't know what lines to cross or the consequences of crossing them. The only inappropriate thing they've done so far is try to get on the couch.
On an interesting note- Bailey refused to go down our stairs and had to be taken in the back door. Not sure what scared her but if it continues we may spend a workout emphasizing that stairs are fun!
Now for the real test! We are going to eat dinner while expecting them to be polite and not in our faces or drooling in our laps.
Tomorrow we may introduce the hot collars but we may wait depending on the dogs progress in the morning. Bailey is ready for Place but Ace is not so we will wait to teach them together. That will make it easier to practice at the same time.
