Baylee Board and Train day 5

What a fun day Baylee had. She got to romp and run around at the farm today with no leash and no fence. Her recall was very good. Her off-leash obedience was so-so. She got pretty sloppy without a leash on but by the end of the day she was doing better. What's funny is the leash doesn't do anything at this point. But simply knowing it was there helped her stay on my left side and not wander around. So I had her drag the leash for a workout and then when I took the leash off entirely again she was much cleaner about where she was supposed to stay.
Watching her bound around today was a lot of fun. But she did show me that she is still willing to be a pill sometimes. When it came time to go and load back up into the car she hesitated and then tried to bound away in a game of tag. A soft vibration from her collar got her to come right to me but without the collar I would have had to follow her to make her come back. I expect these puppy antics to stick around until obedience really becomes her way of life.
Tomorrow is my busiest day for weekly lessons and so she is going to get a bit of a break in the afternoon to laze about the house and play with the other dogs. But I plan to get a little work in with her before the day is over. Today was a big day for her and she is appropriately snoring in her kennel at the moment.

It seems that Baylee had a lot of fun being free. You should give her more time to roam on the farm. It's best to give the animals a chance to roam freely around the grass. It helps them be more proactive and confident in themselves. I always release my pets in an open area every now and then. They were once free creatures, so we shouldn't be too selfish with regards to their freedom. I hope that I can read more stories about Baylee's adventure in the future.
