Butch Board and Train day 6

My sweet friend Butch goes home tomorrow. He has been cracking us up all week and I will miss his wiggle butt. But he has come so far and I am really pleased with his progress. We got his video taken and we cleaned up some of his obedience. He struggles in the cold but he really tries to do the right thing. His owners job now is to make this his way of life. More important than carving out official “practice time” is the importance of asking him to work for you throughout the day. On walks ask him to Heel part of the time. While you watch TV have him in Place. Ask him to Sit before going through the front door. Things like this teach him that obedience isn’t about tricks to perform but tools for every day. It’s his job.
I have enjoyed training Butch. He was a good learner and a sensitive dog. He is a good candidate for further training but he could also be a really delightful house dog with the training level he is at now. He definitely deserves all the pats.
