Today was a very full day for her. We had 4 workouts and a few exercise walks. She has pretty much gotten Heel/Autosit and her Implied Stay is very good. Her Down is so-so and she still needs help now and then. Her Recall is also marginal. She will come in the right direction but tends to try to scoot past you.
She is what we call a soft dog. She takes hardly any correction at all and is very easy to accidentally over-correct. However, she is not pouty nor does she dwell on unpleasant experiences. It is easy to move her on and she does not hold grudges. She will let you know if a correction was too harsh with a little squeak and maybe mouthing the leash. If this becomes a habit I will correct it but so far she has only mouthed the leash once and I think it was more out of surprise from a harsher-than-normal correction (she tried to bolt after Angela who was sprinting around us after butterflies).
This little love sponge is such a joy to have around. She is so quiet and tends to just appear at your side. I was on the couch this afternoon and I looked next to me and realized she was sound asleep at my side. I have no idea how long she had been there but I decided not to wake her up and let her finish her nap.
One thing that I will mention is that she is still not eating well. She did not touch her morning meal and has done a little picking at her dinner so far. I think it may just be homesickness because she is acting fine and is very playful. Some dogs just don't eat very well at the start of their stay here. I have had it happen before and usually by day 3 or 4 through their stay their appetite will pick up. If hers does not I will try to entice her with some bland chicken and some oatmeal or rice.
Tomorrow we will be learning Place!
