Darth Vader is a classic German Shepherd boy. He is impulsive but a very strong work ethic occupies his brain. He is a dog who will require high expectations from his people but he is also a dog who will meet those expectations easily. Today we mostly warmed up with basic obedience. Heel, Autosit, Implied Stay, Down and Come. Nothing is clean of course, it’s only day one. But he has shown me he knows some words and with guidance he is becoming more reliable with every work out. He is also being expected to wait at thresholds, his kennel door, and to wait patiently and still for collaring. He enjoys a challenge and has been a joy to work with so far.
On a fun note he has a very funny, flirty, relationship with Dana. They want to play but he gets overwhelmed and nervous and barks at her. She is a very sweet but very self assured girl dog and he seems a little lost about how to interact with her. But I foresee a fun friendship between these two.
