Matilda Board and Train day 2

Today we started really getting work done with Mattie. She has a pretty difficult time restraining herself around people and so we have a very strict "four on the floor" policy. No jumping is allowed on people or furniture. We are also making her sit and wait for her food because goodness she LOVES her food. And having her sit and wait is a good wait to build self restraint.
Her leash manners are going well and we started Implied Stay and Down today. Implied Stay needs a lot of work (see above about her complete lack of self restraint) but she is trying hard. Down she picked up quickly but wanted to pop right back up.
She is still a young pup and so her little attention span is to be expected. Coupled with the fact that she is an extremely well adjusted and happy girl she tends to over-celebrate little achievements. It's adorable but we will gently encourage her to keep her wiggles in. Some of this will get easier as she matures a little.
Tomorrow we are working on her obedience some more. I may introduce her to a remote if she does well but we have plenty of time for that so I am in no hurry. It is important that she really understand what we want before we use a remote to make sure we done confuse her. She is a smarty pants and will pick this up quickly.
