I could not be happier with how well today went. We went to the farm for about 4 hours and the dogs did extremely well. Their first work out we worked on motion commands. Their off-leash Heel was pretty good. They could not decide which dog got to walk on the inside and Sparky finally got so annoyed I let him Heel on the other side of me so he and Stella could stop grappling for position. Their recall work was very good. They loved bounding through the field but would turn and recall quickly as soon as I paged their collars.
Inside they held a respectable Down Stay for almost an hour. Their second workout focused on stsrionary commands and that went so so. They would Down just fine, for instance, but then they toiled with the Implied Stay. Either they would ooze on their bellies over onto my feet or they would get up and follow me as I walked away. However, even though they were messing up they were messing up in the best possible way. I would much rather they mess up towards me instead of booking it away from me.
All in all, very successful first real off-leash day.
