I love my little guys and Toto is almost as small as they come (I think he is giving Butters a run for her money for the record of Tiniest FSK9 Graduate). He is here for 5 days of obedience training and house manners and to get his barking under control. He has been very willing to demonstrate his barking for us while here but he has also been very responsive to light correction. He is getting along fine with the resident dogs here, as they are immune to fussy little bossy butts. His control tactics don't work on them as they tend to just walk away and ignore him. It's a good experience for him.
His workouts today went pretty well considering he is used to being in charge. We started with Heel/Autosit. He Heels fine in a low distraction setting and he sits when told to about half the time. He is still learning what a correction is (he is on a micro pinch collar) and so he is a little confused. We started Down and didn't get very far with it today but will continue plugging away at it tomorrow. Come is fine and we are working on sitting down when he gets to me, for now he celebrates in proper Yorkie fashion and dances around like a fool.
Tomorrow we will up the ante and take him on a walk in the neighborhood. Today we stayed out at the farm where there were minimal distractions. Tomorrow I hope to pass by other dogs, cats, chickens, babies in strollers, etc. We shall see what North Lawrence can provide. His final exam will be a walk down Mass. Street but that is not for another few days. For now he is pouting in his kennel but not barking, so we will call it a win.
