Traya’s owner has already done a beautiful job of giving her a foundation of obedience training. Her vocabulary and her responsiveness is great. Traya is with me for a week to address some anxiety that has cropped up that needs to be addressed before she can be considered ready to be a service dog in public. She won’t be done at the end of this week but since much of Traya’s fears stem from being separated from her owner this week will lay a very important foundation.
Today was all about getting Traya settled in and comfortable and reviewing her obedience. Tomorrow will be her first field trip into town and this will be the trip that sort of sets the tone for the week. It will give me an idea of where she is and where we need to start. I’m optimistic that we can help her feel better in new situations but a lot depends on her ability to look to her person for direction before panicking and also her ability to grow more comfortable with sudden sounds and movement. Keep watch here for more updates! She will be a fun dog.
