Traya had a big day today. We had our first field trip in to town. We are starting her training for being in public as a service dog. Today we went to a grocery store and a hardware store. Her obedience was great both places. She waited patiently in a Down at both check outs and she did well walking through tight spaces. There was another dog in the hardware store who was not well controlled and who was very interested in her and she handled the dog’s enthusiasm with aplomb.
She still needs to work on not panicking when someone new walks towards her. She didn’t make any big mistakes when someone at the hardware store approached us but she was visibly nervous.
The poor weather might interfere with our ability to get out tomorrow. It might be a place mat kind of day. But we plan to go back to town before she goes home. I’m proud of her. Today was not easy for her and she did amazingly well.
